Experience some of Northern Ireland’s history when visiting Monea Castle located 25km from the Belle Isle Estate.
Monea Castle which was built in 1601 for Reverend Malcom Hamilton stands as one of Northern Ireland’s largest and best reserved plantation castles. The Castle was originally the stronghold for the Maguire Clan who would later bring Monea Castle under an attack led by Rory Maguire in 1641.
Now the castle stands as a ruin for you to explore or the perfect background for a game of hide and seek with the kids or a family picnic as you sit and relax in the Fermanagh countryside.
After a long day in nature, it’s nice to come back to a delicious meal and life’s modern comforts. Make your return to the Belle Isle Estate and retreat into total relaxation in one of our stunning self catering apartments or cottages. These are ideal options for those looking for spacious and private accommodation for small groups.
